FREE Webinar: A Research Roadmap for Active Transportation

Free Webinar: A Research Roadmap for Active Transportation

Held on February 2, 2022 at 3:00 pm ET

This webinar provides an overview of the Research Roadmap developed for the AASHTO Council on Active Transportation (CAT). The Roadmap and supporting documents were developed by a consultant team from the Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at Portland State University and Toole Design Group. To identify and define research priorities, the team reviewed existing and on-going research, identified research needs from a wide range of sources, and held several outreach activities with practitioners. It is designed to lead to active transportation research that will address the most important needs of state DOTs and similar transportation agencies. The final Roadmap includes a set of 110 prioritized research needs, a review that summarizes the existing and ongoing research on 22 topics, and an implementation plan.

The implementation of the Roadmap should lead to more research that will advance active transportation safety and mobility throughout state DOT functions, from planning and environment to design and construction to operations and maintenance. Implementation will rely on the CAT partnering with other entities, both within AASHTO and externally.

At this webinar, you will learn about:
• how the Roadmap was developed
• the contents of the Roadmap and how you can use it in your work
• how the CAT is implementing the Roadmap
